The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is your next step after qualifying as an Open Water Diver. It is an “Advance” on your Open Water training.
The course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. You try out different specialities while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving.
You will complete five adventure dives. One will be Underwater Navigator and another, Deep Diver. You can then choose three more, covering skills and knowledge that most interest you or will enhance your diving the most.

During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigator Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.
The other three adventure dives might cover areas such as wreck diving, buoyancy control, underwater photography, boat diving, night diving and more.
You use the Adventures in Diving manual or complete the theory online to gain the knowledge associated with each adventure dive.
Each adventure dive is the first one in a full speciality course. So, if you wanted to explore, say Wreck Diving, in more detail you can use the knowledge already gained and the adventure dive already completed to count towards the full speciality award. Course price £375 (This includes full kit hire, all learning materials and PADI certification).
