About Scuba Blue
Diving Training Centre
Scuba Blue is a Scuba Diving training centre and store situated in the South West of England. What makes us different is that we have a really strong emphasis on tailoring training to fit your needs. Whether you are just thinking about training as a new scuba diver or want to take your training to the next level, we will work with you to make sure that you get exactly the training you need, delivered in the way you want it.
We also help you when you are ready to begin buying your own kit. We recognise that many people want to buy things online but the bewildering range of models and brands make this difficult for the newer diver. We can offer you a full advisory service so that when you make your purchases they are going to be right for you. Just give us a call and we will work with you to set up the support you want and need.
Look out for our trips, both in the UK and abroad. Come in and talk to us about your next steps in diving.
Our mission
Here at Scuba Blue our main aim is to train people to dive and to keep them diving. Once you have finished whichever course you have chosen, we will support you to keep diving.
Our commitment to you
- All our school kit is new and up to date and serviced regularly.
- Our instructor to student ratios are very low. You will get personal attention.
- Take your time, we will not rush you through any course.
- We pride ourselves on making all our students and divers feel welcome and part of the team from the first time you enter the dive centre.
- We will provide help, advice that is right for you as an individual, this is not a one size fits all dive centre.
- We will keep you diving after you have finished your course, we LOVE taking people diving.
Our Team

James "Midge" Midgley
INSTrUCTOR
Midge is the owner of Scuba Blue, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and PADI Tec Deep instructor. He loves diving in the UK and has also travelled all over the world diving but his biggest passion is training others to be able to enjoy the underwater world. Midge worked within the dive industry for some time before he made the decision to start up his own dive centre and Scuba Blue was born.

Vicky Hayes
Instructor
Vicks began diving around ten years ago but from the day she took her first breath below the surface on a ‘Discover Scuba’ experience, she became totally addicted to the underwater world. Although she has visited many dive sites worldwide, she is most passionate about getting people diving in the UK and is constantly amazed by the marine life that our coastal waters have to offer.

Eulian Roberts
INSTUCTOR
Eulian has been an instructor for over 10 years and has dived all around the world. He brings a wealth of experience to the team alongside a very calm teaching style which is a key skill as a scuba diving instructor. An ever present at our pool sessions, he is always happy to do whatever is asked as long as it means getting under the water!

Jon Madeley
Divemaster
Jon started his training with us in the early days of Scuba Blue and has become absolutely crucial to the organisation. He is an ever present member of the Scuba Blue team. Jon has an amazing ability to enthuse new divers whilst at the same time relaxing them with a fantastic mix of humour and experience. Training sessions or dive trips are always better with Jon on board!

Shane Nelson
Divemaster
Shane is the latest diver to go all the way from enjoying a ‘Discover Scuba’ session to becoming a Divemaster. He is a key part of the Scuba Blue pro team. His diving knowledge is first class and his ability to connect with and encourage students has made him a very popular figure.

Jo Cale
Divemaster
Jo has also been with Scuba Blue from the very start. She loves everything to do with the underwater world, has her own Facebook blog page, “Jo’s Ocean Media” and also a very active Instagram page. She has built a great following on both these mediums and is well worth a follow. Jo is always organised, calm and ready to help. She is the perfect dive professional for any students feeling a little nervous when starting their diving journey.

Joe Taylor-Davies
Divemaster
Joe has been with Scuba Blue from the start. He learnt to dive with us and has gone through the ranks to become one of our most valued Divemasters. This means that Joe has an ability to connect with any level of diver and to empathise with any difficulties students have with their courses.

Steve Hazell
Divemaster
Steve is a real asset to the Scuba Blue team. His passion for diving is infectious and he is a real ‘people person’. A natural teacher, his kind, caring approach, coupled with his fantastic sense of humour, makes him the perfect person to put students at ease. There’s lots of fun to be had with Steve!

Karl Willis
Divemaster
Karl is another diver to have come all the way from Open Water to Divemaster with Scuba Blue. If something needs doing on a dive day, Karl has normally done it before you ask him. He is constantly aware of all the students and is always there with advice and tips. If you are in the water with Karl, you know your back is covered, just what you want from a great divemaster.

Emily Webber
Divemaster
Calm, helpful, cheerful and serene, no matter what is happening around her Emily can be relied on to support and advise the new (or experienced) diver. She is a regular at our pool sessions and is very experienced at working with younger divers having assisted on all our PADI Seal Team and Master Seal Team courses.

Jo Barnden
Trainee Divemaster
We love having Jo as a member of the Scuba Blue pro team. Always there to help anyone who needs assistance or help, her empathetic nature means she can help anyone to overcome a skill they are struggling with or to help a nervous diver to feel more comfortable. Jo has spent time in Belize studying Reef Fish and Lion Fish management but we are delighted to now have her back with us in the UK!

Jay Willis
Divemaster
Jay is the youngest divemaster here at Scuba Blue. He has been diving for 6 years since doing his Open Water with Scuba Blue and his knowledge of diving and ability to demonstrate skills are first class. Jay also provides a very important link with younger divers that come to us for courses, they love seeing someone of their own age on the Scuba Blue staff.
