About Scuba Blue
Diving Training Centre
Scuba Blue is a Scuba Diving training centre and store situated in the South West of England. What makes us different is that we have a really strong emphasis on tailoring training to fit your needs. Whether you are just thinking about training as a new scuba diver or want to take your training to the next level we will work with you to make sure that you get exactly the training you need, delivered in the way you want it.
We also help you when you are ready to begin buying your own kit. We recognise that many people want to buy things online but the bewildering range of models and brands make this difficult for the newer diver. We can offer you a full advisory service so that when you make your purchases they are going to be right for you. Just give us a call and we will work with you to set up the support you want and need.
Look out for our trips, both in the UK and abroad. Just come in and talk to us about your next steps in diving.

Our mission
Here at Scuba Blue our main aim is to train people to dive and to keep them diving. Once you have finished whichever course you have chosen we will support you to keep diving.
Our commitment to you
- All our school kit is new and up to date and serviced regularly.
- Our instructor to student ratios are very low. You will get personal attention.
- Take your time, we will not rush you through any course.
- We pride ourselves on making all our students and divers feel welcome and part of the team from the first time you enter the dive centre.
- We will provide help, advice that is right for you as an individual, this is not a one size fits all dive centre.
- We will keep you diving after you have finished your course, we LOVE taking people diving.
Our Team

James "Midge" Midgley
INSTUCTOR
Midge is the owner of Scuba Blue, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and PADI Tec Deep instructor. He loves diving in the UK and has also travelled all over the world diving but his biggest passion is training others to be able to enjoy the underwater world. Midge worked within the dive industry for some time before he made the decision to start up his own dive centre and Scuba Blue was born.

Vicky Hayes
Instructor
Vicky began diving around four years ago but from the day she took her first breath below the surface on a ‘Discover Scuba’ experience, she became totally addicted to the underwater world. Although she has visited many dive sites worldwide, she is most passionate about getting people diving in the UK and is constantly amazed by the marine life that our coastal waters have to offer.

Andy Bluffield
INSTUCTOR
Andy is a Master Scuba Diver Trainer and PADI Tec Deep instructor. He has been with Scuba Blue from the start and very quickly became our first homegrown instructor. His latest passion is the world of technical diving and he is very excited to head up the new technical diving arm of Scuba Blue.

Carla Cook
Instuctor
Yet another instructor who just loves to go diving. Carla is also the best organised of all of us so Open Water training days go like clockwork when she is in charge! Carla is also great with students and calmly sorts out anything they might need help with.

Andy Braithwaite
Divemaster
Andy loves a range of outdoor, adventure activities but luckily this includes scuba diving! He has been diving for over 20 years in various places around the world. Apart from his fascination with new dive gear he enjoys inspiring and encouraging people to dive and loves seeing them progress – you can always ask Andy for help.

Jon Madeley
Divemaster
Jon started his training with us in the early days of Scuba Blue and has become absolutely crucial to the organisation. He is an ever present member of the Scuba Blue team. Jon has an amazing ability to enthuse new divers whilst at the same time relaxing them with a fantastic mix of humour and experience. Training sessions or dive trips are always better with Jon on board!

Andy Roberts
Trainee Divemaster
Andy has spent many years working within the outdoor industry, both in the UK and abroad. He can be found in or on the water most weekends. Nothing is ever a problem for Andy, he is the first to help at the pool and on training weekends. His fun, enthusiastic and knowledgeable approach to diving leaves students feeling happy and confident in the water.

Nelson Sandford
Divemaster
While loving to share a joke, Nelson is also quick to help out wherever needed. Students asking for assistance will always get a quick, calm and helpful response from Nelson.

Rebecca "Bex" Miller
Divemaster
“Lets Go Diving” is Bex’s catchphrase and we hear it all the time! She is an avid diver who has gained experience here in the UK, Europe and in Asia. Bex has a great sense of humour but is also calm, professional and very approachable. She is a fabulous divemaster.

Emily Webber
Divemaster
Calm, helpful, cheerful and serene, no matter what is happening around her Emily can be relied on to support and advise the new (or experienced) diver….and over stressed instructor !

Gavin Beed
Divemaster
Gav is passionate about all things diving! From marine life and beautiful reefs to challenging cave and wreck diving, Gav loves it all! In the pool, he is extremely patient and always ready to help a student having difficultly with any skill. He has spent the last ten years ticking off some incredible dive sites around the world and always has his eye on the next dive adventure!

Rich Hindle
Trainee Divemaster
An Eco-warrior at heart, Rich is passionate about protecting our oceans from pollution. He never comes up from a dive without filling his pockets with ocean debris! Rich has been diving with Scuba Blue for two years and as well as being a positive ecological role model to our students, he also makes sure that as an organisation, Scuba Blue is aware of its responsibility to our environment.
